gDiapers

July 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Okay, so I finally bought the starter kit of gDiapers for Levi. I love them!
Although, gDiapers are like a cloth/disposable hybrid, I’m making some inserts out of washable materials. I’m not going to buy the inserts for $15 a bag–that’s like buying diapers!

So, if you are currently using gDiapers and would like my cloth inserts to wash and reuse, send me an email. We can discuss pricing, etc.

Thanks!

The Talk

Elijah: I want a momma cat so we can have kittens.

Me: Well, we would have to have a momma and a daddy cat to have kittens.

Elijah: Why?

Me: Well, you can’t have kittens without a mom and a dad cat.

Elijah: Why?

Me: Just like people, you have to have a momma and a daddy to make babies.

Elijah: How do you make babies?

Me: Ask Daddy.

Chick fil A

July 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

Tonight we decided to use some gift cards to Chick fil A that Ronnie was given a while back. Boy, I love that God gives us things before we need them. What a wonderful gift it was when we received them, but even more precious now that money is tight.

Anyway, when we got to the Chick fil A, they had some guys making balloon animals, and wands, and crowns and bows and arrows!

The four big kids got balloons. Melody went first and asked for a wand. Levi got a cute dinosaur. Elijah got a bow and arrow. And after much deliberation, Ethan got a bow and arrow as well. Actually, Ethan asked for a sling shot, but close.

The new family song…

July 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A couple of weeks ago, I was teasing Elijah for wiggling a loose tooth. It still hasn’t fallen out yet, but the song that came from the teasing is still sung each time we see him wigglin’ that thing!

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
I’ve got a tooth, and it’s loose!
(Repeat)

This is so cute. The kids dance around wiggling, then stop and shout, “I’ve got a tooth! And it’s loose!”
And start wiggling again. Levi puts us in tears with his, “I got a toof! And iss loof!”

Head over heals, or is it bike?

July 16, 2008 · 1 Comment

When I was 12, I was riding my bike down our dirt road full of pot holes.
My sister and a neighbor friend were behind me. I decided to ease my hands off the handle bars.
***Note: This is a BAD idea on a dirt road!***
Just as I took my hands off the bars, a rock jumped out in front of me! The handle bars turned and I went head over heels a few times. Well, I guess that would really be head over bike over head over bike.
I then landed with great force face down in the dirt.
The next thing I knew, my sister was running up to me with my dad. Remember, my sister had been behind me. My dad was at my grandma’s house, a good run from where we were. Jennifer had zipped passed me to go get dad. I don’t know if she stopped to check on me first.

“I’m okay!” I stated emphatically. I wasn’t hurt or anything, but I couldn’t move my arm too well. I thought it was just bruised.
After a few minutes at grandma’s kitchen table, it was apparent there was more than a bruise. My forearm was swelling up like nobody’s business.
Off to the hospital we went. I got my first broken arm and cast that day. It was my mother’s birthday.

Today, as I came home, I saw a boy riding down the street on his bicycle. He had one arm hanging down beside him with a bottle cap in it. The other hand was holding the bottle that the cap belonged to.
All I could think was, “Hit a rock!”
